The Dream

The Dream
(Stevenson, Floyd, Eden)
when the earth was ripe
and the time was right to say love
when our worlds were one
and the only sun was our love
all that ever had been had been wrapped
in the dream of our lives
watching rainbows cross the sky
in the vanishing dream of our lives
falling up then, then turning down
the days of secret places
singing loud, but watching how
the age is shown on faces
backing into corners
emotions become just a blur
in the dream of our lives,
games of night that were
stolen and shared and then forgotten
pastor, I’m running! master, you’ll see!
soon I’ll be gunning down people like me
my mind is behind her
their minds have grown cold
the dream is of love,
they’re feeling too old
if you were here now and back with me
we’d find the dream that we sought
laughing, glowing, living, growing,
running in a straight line
toward open country

Love Is The Answer

Love is the Answer
(Stevenson, Eden)
I was living in a cell with no mind of my own.
I was thinking yeah of a life alone.
But no one there was on my side to save me
And there seemed to be no end to loneliness.
In a singular life with no purpose at all.
There were faces laughing at every turn.
In a downward plunge toward hatred & fear
and my body was starting to burn.
Oh then came the sun! Oh then came the light!
And then came my love! Then came my life!
Then came love on silver waves.
Then came the cherished velvet dancer.
And now I find with all my searching:
you know, love is the only answer.
So when the sun is cold and the future looks dark,
you know, love’s been forgotten.
And brother if you can’t believe in yourself,
you better find someone who will, yeah.
Oh how can I tell you how she makes make me feel free?
How can I tell you: Love’s inside of me?
And now with love secure in my mind,
yeah I can share it with all I meet.
Ah but it took your touch to make me see:
you know, love is the only answer.

Body Trip
(Campbell, Eden)
You play the heart game
and you’re ready to lose
screened-in porches
filling memory banks
of pretty Pollyannas
and the friends they knew
you tripped over
in your world of love
Body trip
Let’s play the touch game
and we’ll make our own rules
touching only certain places
We’ll travel up & down
in line far from the ground
but never look
at each other’s faces
Body trip
Don’t break our new rules
stay below the mind
forgotten hearts
and fortunes screaming
For if we ever find
we’ve touched inside the mind
our living might develop meaning

Lowland Blues
(Stevenson, Eden)
Go down to the lowlands,
take along just what you know.
The grass is greener everywhere,
so where’d you like to go?
Knocking at the door.
Go down to the shore.
Pity be on mankind:
all he ever wants is more
to be free.
Out of sight and out of mind.
Fill your cup from all you see.
There’s more to what
you think you know.
There’s more here than just me.
Knocking at the door.
Go down to the shore.
Pity be on mankind:
all he ever wants is more
to be free
Virgin martyr sails with me
on my poor ship of fools.
Who knows where
my name has journeyed
searching for the truth?
Walking from the sea.
Fighting the disease.
Pity be on mankind:
all he real needs is p

It All Comes Back
(Campbell, Eden)
Someday somebody’s
going to question
how you say
you’d like to feel.
Somebody’s going to
show you the view
of what it real.
But it all
comes back to you.
Nobody can show you
the right road
or how to think.
You can lead a horse
to where it’s at,
but you can
never make it drink.
Yes it all
comes back to you.
When you find yourself
you’ll realize
that there is no other.
But if you need a clue
you just might find it
in your brother.
Come on back.
Yes it all
comes back to you.
